Shibori is the Japanese term for dyeing cloth in different patterns by folding, stitching, tying, clamping, etc.
In this 1 week workshop I explored 3 techniques of Shibori and kept experimenting with them to generate new, unique patterns on cotton and silk fabrics.

1. Nui Shibori- Involves stitching the fabric and tightening it by pulling the lose ends to produce beautiful patterns.
2. Arashi Shibori- This involves tying the cloth on a cylinderical object and scrunching the fabric to give lovely broken patterns in gradients.
3. Itajime Shibori- In this particular shibori the fabric is folded in any manner and clamped with objects or wooden clamps with the help of G or C clamps. This produces
repetitive patterns in an ordered manner.
